Charles Buswell was raised at Wyeville and Tomah, Wisconsin. In addition to being a graduate of the University of Wisconsin -- Eau Claire, he is also a 1967 graduate of the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science, Milwaukee. Licensed as a funeral director in 1968, Charles was previously employed by funeral homes in Tomah, Racine and Eau Claire. Charles is a U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam. He is a member of the Black River Falls Evangelical Lutheran Church, Masons, Lions (past president and past secretary), American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, AMVETS, National Funeral Directors Association, Wisconsin Funeral Directors Association, and Western Wisconsin Funeral Directors Association (past president and past secretary/treasurer). He is also a co-founder and board member of Project Christmas of Jackson County and a board member of the Black River Falls Downtown Association. Ruth Buswell is a native of Galesville, Wisconsin. Following her graduation from the University of Wisconsin -- Eau Claire, she taught elementary school for three years and has been a full-time staff member of the Buswell Funeral Home since 1989. In addition to her secretarial duties, Ruth maintains the firm's after-care program (grief recovery) and assists at most funerals and visitations (calling hours at the funeral home). Ruth is a member of the Black River Falls Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (past local president), and the Altar Guild and the personnel committee of the Black River Falls Evangelical Lutheran Church. She is also a co-founder and board member of Project Christmas of Jackson County and a board member of the Black River Falls Area Foundation. Additionally, Ruth served on the board of directors (secretary) of the Black River Falls Public Library for 14 years. Together, Ruth and Charles enjoy reading, hiking, biking, travel, and boating and entertaining at their summer home on the Black River. The Buswells are great supporters of Black River Falls and Jackson County, Wisconsin and are also avid Green Bay Packer fans.
